Foyer Fixation - or maybe I need a therapist?

I've tweaked a bit.  In my tweaking, I may have become obsessed - I can't decide on the chairs for the foyer. Set one chairs give the foyer a bit of eclectic mix, an edge, well, edgy for me, as edgy as I get. Set two chairs are French.  I shuffle these chairs in, and out of the foyer a couple of times a week.  Maybe it's some decorating psychological breakdown?  hmm.

I would appreciate your input, and time.  Take a few moments to review the photos below, then leave me a comment identifying your favorite.

Set one:

Graphic chairs, vintage 1970's frames upholstered in a graphic grey velvet and linen "key" pattern fabric.  Fretting about the height of these chairs, thinking the height is too much for the small space, and settee. I like the pattern. I haven't made the pillows for the settee, I could add pattern there.

Set Two:

French style arm chairs.  The height of these chairs with the settee is nice.  The curved backs accent, and work well with the curves on the settee.  Is this too predictable?  Everyone today is being so edgy.  Adding some pattern pillows would make a huge difference to the room.  Slip covering the backs in a graphic design would be nice too.

View from the dining room, through the cased opening to the foyer. Uh! I just noticed I left the second garden stool out of the photo.  pff.

I made two slight changes; painted the table on the left in gray, then distressed it, and changed the skirted table fabric to a simple cotton sheet in a darker value of grey.  I like the hint of messiness it gives the room.  I added a small sunburst mirror, perched atop a bit of all thread, and anchored in a square of Carrera marble.  I collect sunburst mirrors.

Please scroll down and leave me a comment in the "Comment Section"; graphic or French.  Curious for your impression.  Maybe I've become obsessed, teetering upon that edge of design oblivion, where you develop a twitch!   You know how you walk in a space an think "hmm, something's a miss" - every time I come home.  Help!

All the best, until next time -

  2. I prefer the "coffee" chair. BTW, does Mr. GDC get a say in this...or is the therapist his input?
